Nancy Hiller's book English Arts and Crafts Furniture introduced me to this design and guided me through some of the construction details. Though the design is not originally hers, as Nancy Hiller was a working furniture maker before her death in 2022, I sought and received her blessing to build this table on commission. My version of the hayrake table was scaled from Nancy’s original full-sized dining table, and inspiration was also drawn from Ernest Gimson. I have retained the hayrake stretcher and most of the decorative elements from the original, including the decorative carving and chamfering. The design scaled down handsomely to the proportions of a coffee table, and, of course, also look stunning in the original proportions as a dining table.
